An aspect of the behavior-analytic approach to language and thinking that I find particularly challenging is language acquisition focuses on operant learning. In this case, children learn language through a process of practice, imitation, and rewards. For example, a parent in the child’s environment will provide stimuli and rewards. Therefore, when the child mands, echoes, or produces any form of vocal response they are usually praised for that behavior. In that case, praise becomes the reinforcement. Nonetheless, I find it challenging that since rewards are significant in language and thought development, what would happen to the child whose parent is absent when the child makes that vocal response?
The main contribution made to our language and thinking involves Skinner’s theory of language acquisition. In that theory, Skinner accounted for the development of language through environmental influence. He asserted that children acquire language on the basis of behaviorist principles of reinforcement through associating words with meanings. Correct utterances produced positive reinforcement when the child understood the communicative value of phrases and words.

Communication occurs when one the behavior of one organism generates stimuli that effect the behavior of another organism. These include verbal behavior vocal behavior and using language. Language is not only an essential tool for communication, but also important for social behavior, as it is through language that the child interacts with the world around. It is essential for the internalization of social codes and for the self-regulation of behave. It can therefore be understood the connection between the aspects of a behavior-analytic approach and language and thinking. The aspects of a behavior-analytic approach to language and thinking that I found to be challenging is the consideration that language use differs from the other types of behavior it is generative ,can refer to itself and can refer to the future. The generative nature of speech appears toile in the structural regularity and frequent novelty of utterance. My experience bring me to a case where an incorrect of an ASD was placed on a child due to a speech and language deficiency
